Hello, everyone. This is Hitler.

[He pauses, wondering how to phrase this request.]

There was something I was curious about in regards to the droning process.  I was wondering if anyone would mind helping me with a small experiment. I promise it won't be complicated or take up too much of your time.

[This is the best second day ever. Medic was feeling a little uncomfortable and restless, but now he's got an experiment to do, notes to take, research to conduct... he's feeling much more like himself.]

An interesting hypothesis to draw. I doubt people drone zhemselves vhillingly, however. Could it be possible zhat somezhing in zheir subconscious triggers zhe droning process? A failsafe, for vhen Grady or zhe Mayor cannot do it personally?

Something tells me this will not end well....^^;

I've been thinking that it happens when they're under emotional stress. The town works pretty hard to make life difficult for non-drones.

I think some people subconciously decide that being a drone would be easier.....and then the town sort of takes over. Did anyone explain Westport to you yet?
From: [identity profile] teutonic-terror.livejournal.com
Not yet, no. But I see your point. It is almost a matter of zhe town winning, in a vhay. Making its captives subconsciously give in.

[Oh goodness, he's starting to talk about Mayfield as though it's some sort of sentient being. Welcome to the town, Medic.]

So true.^___^

Exactly! It's like they're trying to wear everyone down. Break our spirits.

But the only way I can think of to prove that Grady or the Mayor or some other intervention isn't necessary is to drone someone on my own. So I was going to try droning myself.

Er, as for Westport, it's all very complicated, but I could try to explain it to you. If you'd like.

Please do. I heff a feeling zhat, zhe more information I heff, zhe easier conducting experiments as to zhe nature of zhis place vhill be.

And vhouldn't droning yourself be a problem, considering you may never, as it vhere, come back from it? Or is zhere a vhay to reverse zhe process?

haha, Wesport....1/??

From: [identity profile] springtime4me.livejournal.com
Well, it is a risk, but I think the information we could potentially gain would be worth it. And there's no way to reliably reverse the process, but knowing more about it might help us to find a way.

As for Westport..... It's the neighboring town. Normally, it's a place that is mentioned by drones and seen on television, but is inaccessible because Mayfield is cut off from everything else. But recently....a road opened up.

2/ 3 or 4 probably....

From: [identity profile] springtime4me.livejournal.com
When we went there, the town was destroyed. The whole place looked like a war zone. Buildings toppled, roads blocked by abandoned cars, bullet holes everywhere. Some of the town had been converted into makeshift fortifications....

Interestingly though....there were no signs of people. No bodies either. I explored a little myself, and found a safe in the ruins of the police station. It had half a burnt police badge with the name -an Olney visible. After discussing it with other people and comparing it to older clues, it was determined that Evan Olney was probably Grady's former name. Adding that to the fact that some people believe that he's as much a slave to this town as anyone, I began to wonder if Westport might be the first iteration of Mayfield. After a few days, the road suddenly vanished. About fifty people were trapped in Westport.

3/4 S-so long....Westport was so complex. ;_;

Don't worry, all of the trapped people eventually escaped. And they learned a lot while they were there. I wasn't one of them though, so understand that most of this is second hand.

There was a radio in Westport that was capable of transmitting signals to Mayfield periodically. There were poeple in Hazmat suits spraying toxic chemicals into the air. They were also hunting people down and killing them. Several letters and notes belonging to people who had apparently been victims of Mayfield. If you want to see those I'm afraid you'll have to ask around and see who has them. The church was defaced and covered in graffiti that suggested some kind of cult was at work. The most often repeated image was that of a little girl with a pentagram for a face....

There was apparently a TV making a strange, looping broadcast. Again, you can proabably ask around to see who saw it. I think thats it....

4/4 Done. I promise.

Oh! And there was one body found. It was submerged in the pool and weighted down with rocks. According to his wallet, he was a man named Richard Grey. I know he was referenced in some of the letters....but I don't know in what capacity.

Um...Sorry I can't be of more help, but that's all I really know.

'All you know' is quite enough to be getting on vith for now.

[Indeed it is. A war-torn town full of men in hazmat suits and cryptic messages? Medic is starting to feel annoyed that he missed it! He has seen the note from Samantha (thanks to it being stuffed in everyone's mailboxes), but other than that, this is his first introduction to Westport.]

Vhe already know zhat zhe drones are, one some level, human -- or vhere, at least. So it is perhaps safe to assume zhat vhone can be droned und zhen pull zhemselves out of it if zhey keep zheir sense of self strong under zhe droning effect. Has zhat been zhe case vith zhose zhat are permanently droned versus zhose zhat are droned but recover: zhe 'stronger' victims are zhe vhones to return to zhemselves first?

Unfortunately I don't think anyone has been keeping track of who gets droned and how long it takes them to come out of it. I know that some people are droned for only a few hours while others are like that for months before suddenly snapping out of it.

But maybe we could convince everyone to start reporting droning and recoveries. If we keep a list there might be trends over time.

Zhat seems like an excellent idea. I heff plenty of spare time -- it vhouldn't be a problem for me to collect und organize zhe data. Vhe vhould just need to alert zhe rest of zhe town as to vhat vhe are doing, vhich shouldn't be too much of a problem.

Right, the phones are pretty convenient in that respect. And its really nice of you to volunteer your time, Sir.

[Well, respawn and now, droning, are his favorite subjects of study. Really, he's doing it for himself -- Hitler Adolf just gave him an excuse.]

Just let me know vhen you vhant to start recording data. Und if you do go through vith your droning experiment, do let me know. I vhould love to observe.

Date: 2010-06-01 09:56 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] springtime4me.livejournal.com
Absolutely, Sir. And I'll call you before I star my experiment too.

[Well, Hitler is Optimistic enough to believe he's doing this for very altruistic reasons.]

Umm...What did you say your name was?

Date: 2010-06-01 10:02 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] teutonic-terror.livejournal.com
[Oh. That's awkward. He's not really sure what name to give -- he's had an awful lot of aliases, and now he really just goes by 'Medic', but that's not a name that makes much sense to anyone outside of his team. His 'wife' called him Fritz, but he hasn't gone by that name in over a decade.]

Vhell, my name isn't particularly important. Just call me Medic, for now.

[Oh, right.]

Und make sure zhat you make it clear zhat you are referring to zhe BLU Team's Medic, und not zhe cowardly failure zhat is zhe RED Team's Medic.

Date: 2010-06-01 11:57 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] springtime4me.livejournal.com
[That's okay. Hitler knows all about the trouble that names can cause.]

BLU team, got it. My name is...

[And he pauses for a second. Because everyone's been saying the same thing today...]

Er...I've been advised that I should just go by 'Adolf.'

Date: 2010-06-02 02:19 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] teutonic-terror.livejournal.com
[Medic sees no problem with this. Adolf is a fine, German name.]

You are German, zhen, ja? Or perhaps merely of German descent. You don't seem to heff an accent.

[Nobody has an accent next to you, Medic, shut up.]

Date: 2010-06-02 03:33 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] springtime4me.livejournal.com
[Actually, Hitler is fluent in German. St. Kleio's is nothing if not disturbingly thorough. But as for nationality .... do clones even have that?]

Umm...well, I have sort of a unique situation.

[He pauses, trying to think of how to word this...]

I'm a clone. So, in regards to things like nationality and descent, I may be a special case...

Date: 2010-06-02 03:41 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] teutonic-terror.livejournal.com
[A clone? Now you've got Medic interested.]

A clone of who, may I ask?

Date: 2010-06-02 03:46 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] springtime4me.livejournal.com
Ummm.....Adolf Hitler.

[He sounds vaguely apologetic.]

Date: 2010-06-02 04:39 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] teutonic-terror.livejournal.com
[Ahahaha that's hilarious.]

You're a clone of the Führer? You sound nozhing like him.

[Much more... nice, for one thing. Less awe-inspiring.]

Date: 2010-06-02 05:43 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] springtime4me.livejournal.com
.....Yes.

I usually try not to sound like him if I can help it...

Date: 2010-06-02 06:57 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] teutonic-terror.livejournal.com
Understandably. It is a name und accent zhat bring a good deal of unwanted attention, I vhould imagine.

[Medic can totally dig that. It's the same reason that, when asked about where he got his hands-on training, he prefers to simply say 'on a military encampment', rather than 'at Dachau.' It's all about the names.]
