007- [Action] contemplating the past...

[All of these reminders of Westport have been weighing heavily on the citizen's of Mayfield who remember that horrible place. Hitler has been keeping his head down and avoiding the Hazmats and Sergei as best he can. But he has been listening to the information being passed around. He's also taken to carrying around his one souvenier from Westport. The half burnt police badge with the name -an Olney. And every day on the way home from school, he's been stopping across the street from the police station. Staring, for just a few minutes, wondering what kind of circumstances could have lead to this mess.]

Evan Olney..... I wonder what led him to betray his friends....

. . . If they were selfish reasons, then . . . Then he's the worst type of person.

But looking at all the things we've found, I think maybe . . . he was just tired of fighting.

He couldn't have known that things would turn out this way. I'm sure he wouldn't have taken a path like this on purpose.

. . . I think he knew exactly what would happen when he decided to betray the rebellion. They'd already seen it for themselves.

We don't know that. We don't know anything about Mr. Olney's circumstances.

We know they already knew he was droning people. What did he think would happen if he turned on his friends?

I just can't believe that anyone would choose to wind up like Grady has.

Honestly, I.... I feel sorry for him.

I can't say I do until the truth about why he did it comes out. But up to now . . . He hasn't done anything to deserve sympathy.

I don't feel sorry for him because of anything he's done. But because the position he's in seems...... so very bleak.

No.

What I mean is, even if someone is forced into a bad situation . . . When they murder, torture, and hurt other people without seeming to be upset about it at all. They forfeit the rights to any sympathy.

[identity profile] springtime4me.livejournal.com 2010-10-26 07:28 am (UTC)(link)
I suppose that makes sense.

But it doesn't stop me from feeling bad for him. Whether someone has a right to sympathy has little to do with whether they recieve it.

[identity profile] a-gentle-boy.livejournal.com 2010-10-27 02:41 am (UTC)(link)
. . . Why would you give it to him?

[identity profile] springtime4me.livejournal.com 2010-10-27 07:24 am (UTC)(link)
I don't know. Maybe it just seems like he needs it more than most.

He must be really lonely...

I don't think he needs it. Or wants it. He's got the Mayor, anyway.
